Retro Speedfest

IMG_2364-1-2-1It was a sunny winter’s day, perfect conditions for highly tuned engines. I was so excited as I was booked in to be thrown around in a drift car. It was a great start to the day but it was nothing compared to what was I was about to find over the road.

IMG_2240-1-3As I walked to my car I heard a symphony of classic racers tearing up Eastern Creek Raceway. I looked over and saw the goodness of 911s, GT Falcons, Toranas, Mustangs & Alfas. Retro Speedfest is the event. My day went from awesome to a-friggen-mazing!

IMG_2373-1-3-1When I got to the track I was greeted with some extremely rare race cars.

IMG_2277-1-3It was incredible hearing and seeing them used as they should be.

IMG_3363-1-3With over 200 cars in 8 historic racing categories there’s always something grabbing your attention.

IMG_2108-1-3-1There was a whole class for Jack Brabham racers.

IMG_2143-1-3Noel and his 63 Rennmax.

IMG_2415-1-4The standout for me was The McLaren M8E, a gorgeous piece of machinery powered by a big block chevy. Look at the trumpets!

IMG_2289-1-2-1They even had Australian race engineer, Barry Lock on board who worked for McLaren in the era the M8E was built.
